Top issues

Revitalization, rehabilitation, and rebeautification. From day one in office, I will be seeking to bring together a consensus to implement solutions to these issues in San Rafael.

Every city benefits in two ways from encouraging business growth. Currently, the growing vacancy rate is causing the City of San Rafael to lose revenue on both of those fronts, and it is getting worse.

RevitalizationBring businesses back downtown and restore the city's license and sales-tax income. RehabilitationRepair city finances, empty buildings, and help neighbors in hard times find a way back. RebeautificationRevitalizing and rebeautifying Fourth Street will be one of my major focuses.
HousingA day-one priority: work toward consensus solutions for housing in San Rafael.

Creating a Solid Income Base for the CityA day-one priority: restore licenses and sales-tax revenue by growing business.
1
Licenses and related items

Businesses need to apply for licenses and other related items to open shops.

2
Sales tax share

Businesses collect sales taxes from transactions, and the city gets its share.

From day one, I will focus on working with business leaders in the community to bring businesses back to San Rafael, to help turn around the decay that is attacking the city finances.
